CAIRO – 1 May 2017: A young Egyptian woman, Hayam Hassan, is painting on shoes in order to sell them on social media networks to raise enough money to open her own gallery, she told Egypt Today on Monday.

Hassan quit her hobby of painting for four years to finish her geography studies in the Faculty of Arts, but she later joined painting workshops to develop her talents. Like many artists, she began to think of a way to follow her passion and make money out of it.

“After I excelled at painting, I thought of starting a small project to help me paint in a creative fashion and change the look of my clothes at the same time,” Hassan said.
Given the rising prices of shoes in the Egyptian market, Hassan found out that upgrading old shoes is more affordable than buying new ones.

She started off with painting her own shows as well as the shoes of family and friends, until she decided to move to social media platforms to promote her talent on a larger scale.

Ultimately, Hassan hopes to raise enough money to open her own gallery where she can put paintings and shoes up for sale
