CAIRO – 25 December 2017: Miss Greece 2017, María Psilou, has accepted her Egyptian counterpart’s invitation to visit Egypt. She arrived on Friday, December 22, with a goal of promoting tourism between the two Mediterranean countries.

Psilou’s itinerary includes a number of tourist spots to learn more about Egypt’s great history and ancient civilization, information she can share with the people of Greece and encourage them to visit Egypt.

This visit comes as a part of the Miss World protocol, wherby every queen must represent her country globally and build good relations with her counterparts in the world.

The 20-year-old Psilou was crowned as Star Hellas in 2017 and then went on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. She studies philosophy at the University of Patras.

Miss Egypt, Farah Shabban, and Maria Psilou competed at the 2017 Miss World pageant held in China where they became friends and agreed on a program for encouraging tourism to both their countries.
Greece won the Miss World crown once with Irene Skliva in 1996 and won Miss Universe once in 1964 with Corinna Tsopei.
