Egyptian chefs make world's longest sandwich - YOUM7

Cairo – 7 April 2017: Port Said Governorate, located in northeast Egypt, celebrated the Egyptian Orphan Day on Friday by making the longest sandwich in the world for orphans,

The celebration, referred to as “ The Gigantic Sandwich Festival,” was hosted by the Pharaonic Association of Chefs. About 260 chefs Chefs gathered by the famous sidewalk of Port Said, overseeing the Suez Canal, early on Friday to start making a 1000 meter sandwich.

"This day was chosen specifically to bring joy to the orphans," said chef Nabil, one of the contributors to the event. He added that the sandwich eventually reached 850 meter, which still breaks the world record.

Port Said Governor Adel Al Ghadban was present at the event, along with various officials from the governorate and a big number of orphans.
