Wadi al-Weshwashy – Official Facebook page of Best Places Egypt
CAIRO – 27 November 2017: Hidden gems and touristic spots in Egypt are all around us, whether we are heading North or going South. Wadi al-Weshwashy is just one of those places that is out of site, and yet, is simply breathtaking.
On your way to South Sinai, Wadi al-Weshwashy is situated near Ras Shitan Camp, just a short 15 kilometers away from Nuweiba. It is buried deep into the mountains of South Sinai, where the mountains contain granite.
Wadi al-Weshwashy has three water springs that formed after centuries of rain collecting in the folds of the mountains; the water springs nestled there are warm and clear due to the granite-formulated mountains.
Through a 90-minute hardcore hike up the mountain, which is 150 meters above water level, one has the opportunity to gaze and enjoy a three-part water spring, known as “Green Lake”. Day trippers hike to the first location while the two other areas are only accessible by swimming through the first.
Despite the magnificence and mystery of this place, it gains little attention from people and is mostly visited by Bedouins who have discovered and maintained this hidden beauty. Bedouins have also organized many trips to the valley; they take Nuweiba guests via jeep rides and offer them full-service till the day.
Being in this place simply fulfills your soul with the raw powers of nature, re-energizing you for the busy city life. The valley has no amenities; visitors often sit under palm trees and soak the view of natural water between mountains and enjoy the wind rushing by them.
