CAIRO – 22 November 2017: In order to keep kids safe around schools, Uber and the NADA foundation have joined forces for a special project called ‘Safety Around Schools’.

The project will let passengers choose the ‘UberGIVING’ option in the Uber app which means some money from any rides requested will support the NADA Foundation's lifesaving cause.

The objective of the project is to make the roads and bus pick-up and drop-off points safer for students. The project includes workshops for schools’ staff and drivers to educate them on how to keep the children safe while also supplying them with the needed equipment to follow the safety regulations.

Nihad Shelbaya, co-founder and president of the NADA Foundation, stated in a press release: “Since its creation, our main goal at the NADA foundation is to reduce road traffic accidents across Egypt through raising awareness and accountability of drivers, pedestrians and authorities, and through calling for the implementation of acceptable safety standards for road design, vehicles used, driving skills and legislations.”

About NADA Foundation

The NADA foundation has become one of the most active on-ground initiatives and advocacy groups which aims to raise awareness on road safety and to bring it higher up on the agenda of different stakeholders. Inspired by the loving memory of the beautiful 19-year-old university student Nada who was killed in a tragic car accident, the NADA Foundation for Safer Egyptian Roads was founded in 2014 to put an end to traffic accidents in Egypt.
