CAIRO – 15 October 2017: As the saying goes, there is a red lip shade for every woman. But when it isn’t done right, a classy red color can soon become a red hot mess.

The most important step to achieve those perfectly plum red lips is to exfoliate. An easy home remedy is using a couple drops of olive oil and sugar, place the mixture on an old toothbrush, and brush your lips light-handedly. Follow up by moisturizing your lips using Vaseline or lip balm; leaving it on for a few minutes before wiping it off. This will remove any dead skin off of your lips for smooth application.

To avoid makeup mishaps, the best way to get that perfect shape to compliment that color is to use a smooth lip liner. If it is not smooth or newly sharpened, make sure to warm it up on your palm first to avoid any irritations.

After you outline your lip shape, pick out a long lasting anti-smudge red lipstick. A rule of thumb is if you are cool toned, or your veins appear blue, choose a shade of red with a cool undertone. If you are warmed skin, or your veins appear green, use a warmer shade. This will compliment your undertones and avoid any ashy-ness.
