16 September, 2017:Egyptian students reacted on Saturday to their last days of a three-month summer vacation through social media, using the hashtag #اخر_يوم_بالاجازه, "Last day of the vacation”.

Some students on Twitter said they were upset students expressed their sadness because their vacation came to an end.

Some university students hoped their vacation could be extended so that they would start their first day with that of school students, on September 24.

Social media users also mocked Egyptian Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar's decision to have university students salute the Egyptian flag and to sing the national anthem starting September 16.

Facebook user Ghada Aly posted "Saluting the flag at the University? Are you kidding or serious!"

Saluting the flag and singing the national anthem have only been a tradition in primary, preparatory, and secondary schools, not at universities. That was why the decision was mocked on social media.
