CAIRO – 7 September 2017: Over the years, as a professional hairstylist, you acquire some trade secrets that help in the day-to-day salon’s operations. I can’t divulge all of them of course, but I will share 8 important ones that I think every person who goes to a salon regularly should know. So, here we go!

Secret #1: Before Using a Hot Babyliss
Your hair must be completely dry before you use a hot styling tool like a Babyliss, a curling iron, or a flat iron. That’s why at Toi Beauty Salon we insist on drying your hair thoroughly with a blow dryer first. If your hair is still wet or contains the slightest bit of moisture, the hot iron will damage it!
Secret #2: Lay on the Layers!
Many of my clients try so hard to hold on to their youth by keeping their hair long and at one length, the myth is that long hair keeps you looking young. The truth of the matter is, and I hate to be the one to break it to you ladies, as you get older, you need to soften the lines around your face, and layering your hair achieves that!
Secret #3: We are Color Chemists
My goal is to always make my clients happy and give them what they want. When I run out of a particular client’s color, I am able – as a trained professional – to mix something new that will achieve the exact same color effect. I might not always share this with the client in order to avoid complaints. I don’t want my clients to feel anxious or feel a lack of consistency; the end result is what matters, and I will give my clients what they want every time!
Secret #4: Thin Hair Bob
If you have naturally thin hair, you don’t have to wear it short. A pixie-cut will not necessarily achieve a full-hair look. In fact, I advise my clients with naturally thin hair to grow it out into a stacked bob; it will achieve a look of fullness.
Secret #5: Invest in the Right Products!
Know your hair and exactly what it needs to stay healthy, invest in the right products, the return on your investment is the health of your hair! As relaxing as those long hot showers are, hot water removes color. And as fun as summer by the beach is, the sun dries your hair. You don’t have to deprive yourself of these little pleasures, so long as you spend a little money on the right products.
Secret #6: “Bleach”
Whatever you want to call it, lightener, de-colorizer, color-remover, it does not matter. You may use the word you’re most comfortable with, but at the end of the day all of these words refer to the same thing: bleach. If you’re removing a dark color, then you’re bleaching.
Secret #7: I’m a Hairstylist, not a Plastic Surgeon
You can come to me with a picture of your favorite celebrity and their haircut. The haircut I can duplicate, their face and body, I can’t. Many clients expect an extreme transformation after copying a celebrity’s hairstyle. What I say to them is, you are beautiful just the way you are!
Secret #8: Hairstylists are Real People, Just Like You.
Shock of all shocks: what you think actually matters to me, and all other hairstylists will tell you the same! I work very hard on making every single client happy, and to ensure a return visit, and a long-term relationship. So, I do worry about what you think of the style, color, or cut I just gave you. If you feel like calling me after you leave to say thank you, or posting on social media expressing how happy you are with your new look, please do. And don’t forget to tag us.
