CAIRO – 9 August 2017: For years now, Marsa Matrouh has been the destination of those who look for quiet beauty in the very hot Egyptian summer. Maybe it has not received the proper attention it deserves, but the government has started paying attention to it lately, developing and renewing it, with the western North Coast development project, which President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi takes care of personally.

Matrouh and its beaches are now witnessing a state of development and renewal, which has led to a huge increase in the number of tourists and vacationers who visit the governorate each year.

Vacationers from everywhere in Egypt and abroad come to the governorate in numbers that exceed 500,000 each week. According to reports and official counting from the Ministry of Tourism, Matrouh has received 4 million people since the beginning of this summer, enjoying its beaches, which stretch over 300 kilometers.

Moreover, General Alaa Abu Zeid, governer of Matrouh, confirmed that occupancy has reached 100% in all tourist hotels and resorts, as well as other summer accommodations, such as apartments and chalets. He stated that Matrouh is looking to receive 7 million vacationers during this summer season due to the availability of services and unique natural resources.
