CAIRO – 7 August 2017: For the first time ever a Muslim women wins the right not to pose in bikini at the Miss Universe competition.

The Somali-British 27 year old, Muna Junna, stood on stage wearing kaften rather than a bikini in the Miss Universe competition. Muna fought for her right to not wear bikini in the completion and the jury agreed for it.

Two years ago Junna decided to apply to the Miss Universe pageant in the U.K because she was attracted into the humanitarian aid activities associated with the beauty pageant, as she mentioned to Vogue Arabia online magazine.

She is the co founder of cloudless research, which aims to help illegal immigrants and help stop child abuse.
