CAIRO - 6 August 2017: A meeting was held in Cairo on Friday between Egyptian Minister of Tourism Yahya Rashed and Arman Issagaliyev, Kazakhstan’s new ambassador to Egypt. The meetings revealed a strong desire by the leaders of Kazakhstan to activate cooperation with Egypt in many fields, especially tourism.

For his part, Tourism Minister Yahya Rashid said during the meeting that he welcomed the increase in tourist traffic between Egypt and Kazakhstan, stressing that the Kazakh tourist market is an important and promising market for Egypt, adding that there will be many activities between the two countries in the coming period.

Rashid added that the Tourism Promotion Authority is in the process of inviting a group of tourism editors and tour operators in Kazakhstan to visit Egypt and learn about its various tourist attractions. He stressed the importance of direct and regular flights between the two countries to activate tourism between them. He said he hoped that Egypt would receive 1 million tourists from Kazakhstan in the coming period, while the ambassador called for activating the private airlines between the two countries in support of exchange in the field of tourism and culture.

Adel Abdul Raziq, a tourist expert and vice president of the Egyptian Federation of Tourism Chambers, said that the trend to attract tourism from Kazakhstan is good and confirms the ministry's continuous efforts to open new markets and trusts that can attract more than 1 million tourists.

"The first of these procedures is to strengthen the air traffic between the two countries through charters and open the way for private aviation to enter the line between the two countries, because traditional aviation will not contribute to increasing the number of arrivals from Kazakhstan to Egypt and will not give them a direct flight to Hurghada or Sharm El-Sheikh,” Abdul Raziq said.

He added that the second necessary procedure is the opening of visas for citizens of Kazakhstan from Egypt's airports, whether in Cairo, Hurghada or Sharm El-Sheikh. Abdul Raziq pointed out that obtaining the Egyptian visa from the state itself will be difficult .

Dr. Mohammad Abdo, a member of Parliament’s Tourism Committee and an investor in the field of tourism, said that Kazakhstan would be a supportive country for activating Egyptian tourism, and that it would be positive for Egypt, adding that targeting 1 million tourists is a good initiative from the Ministry of Tourism.

He pointed out in statements to Egypt Today that Kazakhstan is a poor country and its tourists are looking for the lowest cost, which is available in Egypt, making the country a good attraction for them. He called on the Ministry of Tourism to formulate a series of strong entertainment and tourism programs enjoyed by Kazakh tourists in order for them to increase their expenses in Egypt, explaining that they are economical people by nature, which requires intelligence in dealing with them, as well as providing them with the most luxurious services to attract them and achieve more income for the tourism sector.

Kazakhstan is an intercontinental country, most of which is located in Central and Eastern Europe, and partly in Eastern Europe west of the Urals. It was part of the Russian Empire and the then-Soviet Union. It was declared independent in 1991 and its inhabitants are called Kazakhs.

The state of Kazakhstan is one of the most important tourist attractions in recent years and has become a destination of interest to Arab tourists, especially the Gulf countries. The country includes about 7,000 lakes. Kazakhstan shares its borders with several countries, including China, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, and it overlooks the Caspian Sea.
