Now I am not the biggest fan of Taylor Swift, but this song (evermore ft the great bon iver) stopped me in my tracks, specifically the beginning and ending of the song. Regardless of the fact that it has been 5 years since its release, it still captivates to this day. Like it or not, it is a masterpiece.

It got me thinking of human nature, how we think our pain is everlasting, how this time it won't get better like we assume, that our days where we were carefree are long gone, just fleeting memories that we may forget as we age.

When we’re in the middle of it, we tend to forget the times we stood still, the days we fought so hard to face the next day, to actually get up and start a new day with a heavy heart, and i won’t sugarcoat it, we all felt that at some point this year.

We forget that not every storm is meant to last; we forget the light that’s waiting at the end of the tunnel, even if it’s flickering. It's still light. It's still there. Hope is there.

So if you ever felt that sadness will be evermore, it wouldn't. If you have just an ounce of hope, hold on to it, even if you still doubt what comes ahead.

Because pain loves to cosplay as eternity, as this shadow you’ll always find creeping with every step you take. It wraps itself in the illusion of “forever” but the truth is, feelings no matter how gripping they are, they arent meant to last. They pass through, unpack for a while, make a mess, then leave without paying rent.
You’ve survived, you’ve lived through nights that felt unending, and that’s the quiet rebellion of being human: we break, we bend, we bruise, but we continue.

So here’s your reminder, dear reader — a gentle nudge from the future you haven’t met yet: You will heal from this. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But soon enough, you’ll look back at this year like an old song you once cried to — bittersweet, unforgettable, but distant. This year wouldn’t be for evermore.
