Entering a new talking stage is both exciting and scary; we’ve all been there before. From the small talks that usually start with “what’s your favorite color?”, to the late night calls that seem to last for hours. Somewhere in between all these chronicles sneaks in the sweet talk, the gestures, and attention that can easily fool you into believing it’s true love, when in fact it’s far from that.
Falling for someone is slow and steady. It’s pure connection between two people, no rush nor games. However, when it comes to lovebombing, there's a certain pattern that starts to feel both intense and overwhelming. Here's a glimpse of what it's like to be love-bombed.

What Does Lovebombing Look Like?
It starts with mimicking your personality, even the little things. The person may delude you into thinking you have so much in common, making it look as if it was “meant to be”. They carefully choose their words, trying to fit into your puzzle. It’s not always about connection—it’s about control. The compliments feel endless. You’re “different,” “the best thing that ever happened to them,” “too good to be true”—and all of this before they’ve really taken the time to know you.

You'll feel like you’re floating in a sea of affection and care, to the point that it gets too much, no matter how much you’re affectionate too, something about it starts to feel unnatural, almost performative, and entirely manipulative. Being love-bombed is like running in a race, trying to keep up with the person’s extreme emotions, till you eventually feel burned out.

So, What to Do Now?
Once you realise that it’s not genuine love, the best thing to do is to take a step back. Pause and take the time to acknowledge that it’s not your fault that it went wrong; you were drawn in by someone who knew exactly what to say and how to say it. Healing from it isn't always the easiest, but with clear boundaries, and a little self love. It becomes possible—day by day. You choose yourself, and that's the best kind of love.
