If you ask any successful or accomplished person about their key to success and how they have achieved their goals, whether personally or professionally, they will tell you that it’s important to seize the day. The most frequent answer boils down to taking initiative and being risky, while that’s true and all, sometimes you need guidance, and you feel that you’ve already gone the extra mile but the outcome hasn’t arrived yet.
It can be frustrating not knowing if the effort is worth the energy and time spent, so you end up burned out, exhausted, and lost.
What if I told you that despite the exhaustion, the agony, and the frustrations, something is empowering about you taking initiative?
There will be no toxic positivity type of talk here, but I will present my argument to showcase that you actually learn something along the way, even if it feels like there’s nothing gained.

You Have More Insights
Not every start to the race is the same. Some start the race slow and steady while others run fast and it differs depending on the person’s capabilities. Each time you take a step forward, you know more about the progress and what it takes to be in the lead, you also know what situations require taking slow steps and when to jump the gun. So by ignoring all the valuable insights that you have and instead focusing on the result, you end up losing knowing what works for you.

You Know More About Your Limits and Potentials
With each challenge you face, an idea pops into your head making you think and act in ways that are not familiar to your personality.
With more responsibilities and challenges on the horizon, you end up uncovering untapped potentials and skills you thought you didn’t possess, and you figure out what’s your strength and what are your weaknesses.

It Gives You More Agency & Determination.
While hustle culture is all about a “rise and grind” mentality and when applied wrong it can be quite toxic; however, when you are feeling low and tired but still determined to not be pushed out, you end up assessing and reevaluating things. You become more focused on what’s important and always on the lookout for easier, more efficient solutions that will facilitate your life, in that way, you end up having more agency in your life instead of feeling like you’re reacting not acting in your life.

Sense of Accomplishment
Conquering tiredness to take action can foster a profound sense of achievement, elevating self-esteem and confidence.
It Improves Team & Family Dynamics
When feeling down but still have the gumption to power through, you are often compelled to seek help from others, thereby strengthening relationships and enhancing team dynamics as they collaborate to overcome obstacles.

An important thing to note here, there’s no need to take initiative and lead if you’re in a terrible mental state.
There’s a difference between tired and depressed, so if you’re suffering from the latter and feel no sense of worth taking charge and leading, then you shouldn’t and start working on yourself by seeking therapy.
