In some aspects of our lives, we must think outside the box. To see things in a new light and make decisions that are not conventional. Even if your job is purely analytical or your personality is calculated, creativity is a vital part of our lives that we use even if we don’t realize it. Creativity isn’t limited to arts and crafts, a small thing like organizing a hangout or making a meal can have an element of creativity. So what do we do if we run out of energy to create something new or fun? What happens when we acknowledge that we entered the “creative rut” zone and how do we get out of it? This might be helpful advice on ways to help you get out of the creative rot.

Take a Break
One of the most effective ways to compact the creative rut is by taking a break, even if you’re on a deadline. Your brain is begging you to relax, giving you signs left and right to leave everything and just rest, because what good the brain will do if it doesn’t get the break that it deserves? When we see our computers have high temperatures and are lacking, we turn them off for a while so they can rest and function better later on, so why do you rest computers only but not your brain “the OG computer”? The brain does not work properly if you keep ignoring its signs that clearly state that it needs a shutdown.

Remember that the Process Takes Time
Sometimes great ideas and their executions take no time, making you feel like Superman, however, not everything is done fast with a snap of a finger. Coals take a long time to be transformed into diamonds, your favorite show, music, food, you name it, takes time, care, dedication, and patience to come out perfectly. So remember you are not in a horse race and there’s no winner if you finish first, it’s about quality.

Change Settings
Sometimes, the office setting or home environment can be dull. So in order to recharge your creative spark, you need to get out more. Work in a cafe or coworking space, take a walk, and sit by the park, a change of scenery that elevates your mood for the better.

Take Small Steps
Small and steady always wins. No need to start strong and force yourself to do major tasks that require lots of attention and drain energy, instead, start doing the small tasks to feel a sense of accomplishment and victory.

Seek/Do What Inspires You
The key to get creative is to seek what makes you happy, to see what inspires you, whether it’s song, movie, show, book etc. it’s about remembering what sets your spark, what ignites your fire, the piece of art or action that led you to this career path or studying route.
