3 Easy Recipes to Bake with Family during Eid

Nothing says more about Eid el Fitr than having Kahk, Petit Four, and biscuits for breakfast with your family in the morning. Although we usually get them store-bought, baking them at home just has a different feel to it that reminds us of simpler times, of our beautiful grandmas and great-grandmas who baked them for many years, marking it as a beautiful tradition every Eid that we love dearly.
 
Eid is a great time to recreate those memories with your family, and we have some recipes that you can easily bake!
 
1. Chocolate-Filled Kahk Recipe

This recipe is great to bake with kids, to prepare the dough you'll need a kilo of wheat, yeast, 2 tablespoons of sesame, 1 of baking powder, a pinch of salt, 250 grams of ghee, half a cup of powdered sugar and a small amount of chocolate spread.
 
Mix all dry ingredients together, then pour the melted ghee into the dry mixture and mix well till it forms a dough. Form a small hole in the dough, add the chocolate spread then firmly close each one. Bake until golden, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and bon appetit!
 
2. Shakalama

If you're a coconut lover, this one is for you. You'll need 2 cups of shredded coconut, 1 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, whites of four eggs, and a pinch of salt.
 
Mix salt with egg whites and beat, then add sugar, and vanilla extract and continue beating until thick. Stir in shredded coconut and shape into small balls. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 150 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes. Broil the macaroons a bit to brown the tops. Let them cool before serving chilled.
 
 
 
3. Soft Petit Four

This one is loved by many. Prepare half a cup of powdered sugar, two cups of flour, one cup of butter, a pinch of salt, 1 egg yolk, half a tablespoon of orange zest, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, and jam or melted chocolate for the filling.
 
Start beating all the above ingredients in a mixing bowl until smooth, then cover the mixture and put it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. After that, start shaping the mixture into small balls, and add them to a baking sheet. Bake at 160 degrees Celsius for 8 minutes then decorate with the jam or melted chocolate and enjoy!
