2023 was a whirlwind year with many ups and downs, trends, events, and changes we cannot wrap our heads around. Before we bid our farewell to this year, we need to look back at each of our actions and events that led us to where we are right now. Doing so has made some of us not excited about entering the new year and others feel like they haven’t done anything worthy of a celebration.
We get the frustration happening in your mind about feeling that in 2023 despite being filled with packed events, you didn’t experience life-changing things or feel like you didn’t live it up the way you wanted to. While your feelings are valid and no one should deny you from feeling the way you do, it’s important to remember that you survived. You don’t always get to do the things you wanted to do but that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. On the contrary, it means that you went on your way to unlock your potential and reveal another side of you. In this article, we’ll break down how to look back at 2023 with kinder eyes and see that you didn’t leave it all to waste.

You Became Stronger and More Aware.
The way we define being strong is by being undefeated, that you’re a champ and nothing has stopped you from achieving your goals. But being strong is also about the amount of hits you take and yet keep on fighting. It’s about getting up after falling down. Why dwell on what’s lost when you can see the character development you’ve had?
Any experiences, good or bad, are still experiences and we come out of them stronger, sharper, and aware. That’s a win if you asked us.

Even if They Are Small Achievements, They are Achievements
We tend to value accomplishments based on their magnitude. However, if we discredit any achievement for being too small, we’ll never feel satisfied with our lives. We’ll always held back, lazy, and incompetent. This mindset will lead us to compare with others, feeling envious and depressed constantly. A small accomplishment is still an accomplishment. A fun hangout with friends, cooking a meal instead of ordering, doing a good job at work, and making people laugh are still worthy accomplishments that are worthy of celebrating.

You Learned from the Previous Year’s Mistakes and Became Wiser
To say that 2023 was a year when nothing happened is an understatement. If we compare the 2022 version of you, it’s different than 2023 for sure in ways you wouldn’t think of.
2023 was the year you were able to pinpoint where things went wrong and learned the way to avoid past mistakes, even if it meant something like quitting smoking, becoming bolder, or becoming more assertive in your life.

Don’t look back at 2023 as a bad year, but as a year where you got to experience new things and become more focused on becoming the best version of yourself.
