A thing about growing up is becoming wiser, more aware of the world around you, and more responsible. However, most people don’t get the opportunity to mature at the time they’re supposed to. Not all of us have linear progress when it comes to maturity, understanding the world, and finding out our identity. As kids, there were tons of pressure and hopes that once we hit our 20s, it’s a whole new game. We will be mature, responsible, aware adults in control of our lives.  However, what people fail to mention is that everyone’s road to maturity hits differently and we shouldn’t blame ourselves for reaching at the right time.

So what do we need to remember when it comes to growing up late and why should you embrace being a late bloomer?

Circumstances, Personality, And the Environment Are Factors Contributing To Your Growth.

Let’s face it, there are many factors that play a role in when you hit the growth spurt. Just because your friends, or coworkers have matured at the right time doesn`t mean you have to follow in their footsteps.
Everyone’s journey to adulthood and growing up is different, especially since the environment can play a huge role in how you grow. For instance, if you grew up a bit sheltered or reserved, you might start experiencing things later in life.  Your personality helps in your growth as well. If you’re a bit of an introvert or shy, it takes you a while to open up to people and life experiences and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. What’s important is to take your time and don’t do things due to peer pressure or societal conventions.

Growing Up in Age Doesn’t Mean Maturity and Milestones Aren’t Always Meant to Be Achieved.

Right now, lots of twenty-something-old people and beyond, are facing identity crises and some are doing just fine. Once again, just because your friends and peers are hitting milestones at the right time, doesn`t mean you have to as.
Age is just a number, it isn’t an indicator or a sign of maturity.

So with all said, how can you celebrate and embrace being a late bloomer?

Remember It’s About the Journey and Not the Destination.

The journey to adulthood is filled with ups and downs, twists and turns, so always remember to enjoy the ride and don`t rush maturity. Embrace every mistake, flaw, and lesson you learn along the way.

Remember That You’re Not the Only One Who’s a Late Bloomer.

While you might feel alone and different when seeing your friends and families getting married, having kids, and accomplishing milestones, always remember that your phase of being a late bloomer isn’t an exception to you, but tons of people have been late bloomers as well.
If you look back at famous artist or peers, some of them had their beginning to adulthood or career later than others and by becoming a late bloomers, it gave them edge and more ease.
