CAIRO – 19 July 2017: Cairo International Airport received on Wednesday the first charter flight from the Chinese province of Shen Jin, carrying 270 tourists aboard.

The first Chinese charter flight was greeted by a folk arts group, where they presented art shows that won the admiration of tourists.

Another trip is scheduled to arrive in Egypt on Friday, carrying 160 tourists, as well as other weekly flights coming from China as part of efforts of the concerned bodies to develop tourism traffic to Egypt.

The tourism advisor to the Egyptian Embassy in Beijing, Dr. Abu al-Maati Shaarawy, previously stated that Egypt received 18,000 tourists from the Chinese market in May. He added that from January to May this year, 150,000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt, an increase of 94% compared to 2016.

Shaarawy pointed out that tourism in Egypt has become increasingly popular in terms of the number of Chinese tourists. In 2016, Egypt received more than 200,000 Chinese tourists, while in January and February of 2017, the number of Chinese tourists to Egypt reached 70,000.
