CAIRO - 1 August 2023: Secretary General of the Red Sea Governorate, Major General Mohamed El Bandary, held Monday, a coordination meeting on behalf of Major General Amr Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea, to announce the first military museum in the waters of the Red Sea Governorate.
 
He explained that this is the first underwater military museum in Egypt and Africa to collect the first 3 alternative diving sites in Hurghada, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Red Sea Reserves and civil society.
 
The Red Sea Governorate confirmed in a statement that through years of careful planning and preparation, three alternative diving sites will be launched in Egypt, with the aim of preserving the natural coral reefs in the Red Sea.  
 
The Secretary General confirmed that a group of military equipment consisting of 15 pieces, each of which has a unique story and special importance, will be sunk in three locations as follows: Shaab al-Saqala, Uruq al-Tawil, and Arg Jama’ in Magawish, which will create new diving sites in Hurghada, each piece will be sunk carefully, creating extraordinary diving sites that show the rich military history of Egypt.
 
It is scheduled to celebrate this event next Thursday in Hurghada's tourist marina, in the presence of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment and a number of Arab environment ministers from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Djibouti, the Republic of Somalia, the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of Yemen, and a number of scholars and those interested in diving in the Red Sea.
