Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis, Egypt’s most anticipated luxury hotel opening, has appointed Dale MacPhee as its General Manager. Upon its opening this summer, the hotel will mark Waldorf Astoria’s brand debut in Egypt and the African continent, offering one-of-a-kind luxury experiences and seamless elegant service to residents and travelers staying in the Egyptian capital.

With her extensive expertise in hospitality, MacPhee will lead a highly skilled team of luxury hospitality professionals in all aspects of hotel operations - from guest service, food and drink, spa and wellness, to marketing and hotel administration. MacPhee began her journey with Hilton 30 years ago and was most recently General Manager of Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh, one of the leading luxury hotels in the Scottish capital.

“I am delighted that Dale is leading the opening of Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis as General Manager, bringing significant luxury experience as we anticipate the debut of the brand in Egypt with this iconic new hotel,” said Ahmed El Hady, Country Manager & Senior Director, Operations, Egypt, Hilton. “Dale is a seasoned hotelier and I look forward to the energy and passion she will bring to the team, as she establishes the hotel as a market leader for luxury in Cairo.”

Originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, MacPhee has lived in Europe for 25 years in cities including Bucharest, Prague, Istanbul, and London. During her time in Edinburgh, MacPhee took an active role in the local community, supporting various initiatives and sitting on the board of the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland. In this role, she encouraged the development and growth of talent within the hospitality industry. MacPhee was also a contributing mentor at Business Women Scotland, inspiring women to establish successful careers. In her new position in Cairo, she plans to continue her work in this area, supporting the Egyptian hospitality industry and those looking for a career start in the sector. A most recent testament to her accomplishments, MacPhee was named ‘Manager of the Year’ for 2022 at the acclaimed Cateys Awards.

“I am excited about my new life in Cairo and the opportunity to lead a phenomenal new team as we work towards the opening of Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis,” said MacPhee. “My ultimate goal is to ensure the hotel is the leading luxury choice for both leisure and business travelers visiting Cairo, adding to the country’s rich cultural heritage by providing inspired environments and delivering unforgettable experiences to our guests.”

Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Heliopolis, Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis boasts a distinctive grand lobby with traditional elements such as the iconic Waldorf Astoria Lobby Clock and the famed Peacock Alley. The hotel will feature 252 luxurious rooms and suites and is home to a variety of dining and entertainment outlets. Perfect for both leisure and business, the hotel will house the signature Waldorf Astoria Spa, a relaxing pool surrounded by a landscaped garden, a fitness center, nine meeting rooms, and ballrooms that can accommodate up to 2,000 guests.
