CAIRO – 17 July 2017: Qatari nationals have to apply for an entry visa to Egypt starting from next Thursday, a high-ranking official source at Cairo International Airport said on Monday.

The source affirmed that Cairo Airport and other ports have been informed of the new decision. Qataris who want to visit Egypt have to apply for a visa at the Egyptian Embassies abroad, with an exception to husbands, wives and children of Egyptian nationals, the source stated.

According to the source, Qatari students at Egyptian universities are exempted too from the new prior visa decision as they are allowed to get a tourist visa on arrival for three months.

The visa application decision includes special and diplomatic passports in accordance with the principle of reciprocity, the source added.
On June 5, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain severed diplomatic ties with Qatar on charges of supporting and funding terrorism.
