CAIRO – 17 June 2017: The Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA) will launch an advertising tourist campaign for Egypt in a number of tourist markets, including Germany, Ukraine, Poland and England, starting from September 2017 to January 2018, chairman of the ETA Hisham el-Dimary announced on Sunday.

He said that the campaign aims to activate tourist reservations in Egypt during the winter season.

For achieving perfect results, the authority is working within a scientific strategy that conducts a detailed study on the targeted markets and the advertising plans before heading to these markets for campaigning, el-Dimary referred.

“As of December 2016, a big improvement was shown in the tourist movement index, especially after launching the campaign in the targeted markets,” el-Dimary said, adding, “The first quarter of 2017 witnessed a noticed increase in the number of tourists coming to visit Egypt from most world countries, recording an increase of 51 percent compared to the same period last year.”

Regarding tourism from Arab countries, it achieved its highest rates during the first four months of 2017, compared to the same period eight years ago (2010), recording an increase of 30 percent, el-Dimary clarified.

The number of German and Italian tourists has increased by 50 percent and 30 percent respectively, compared to the same period in 2016. However, English tourists, who are still facing a ban on flights to Sharm el-Sheikh, the main destination for English tourism, recorded an increase of 20 percent, compared to the same period in 2016, el-Dimary said.

Promising markets, such as Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Poland and Eastern Europe recorded a hike of more than 100 percent, el-Dimary added.
