CAIRO – 16 July 2017: Italian designer Gianni Versace was not only the founder of the fashion house Versace, but also clothed many celebrities and members of royalty. His vision and artistic ability continues to shape the how fashion industry looks today. Versace was killed on July 15, 1997.

Born to a dress maker on December 2, 1946 Versace learned how to design a sew a dress with the help of his mother by the age of 9. He showcased his first collection in 1978.

Known for having an artistic eye when it comes to photographing his designs and the models, Versace worked with some of the best photographers in the industry like:

Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber, Steven Meisel, and Richard Avedon. He uses to have an artistic eye in photographing the models and his clothes.

He helped many models establish their fame like Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington.

He was tragically murdered in front of his Miami home in 1997. Gianni left 50 percent of his fashion empire to his niece Allegra for when she turned 18 and the fashion house is run by his sister Donatella as well.
