Group of graduating students at Misr International University (MIU) have launched their campaign “Saed tesaad” on several social media platforms on the first of May. “Saed Tesaad” is a youth led initiative that aims to encourage young adults to participate in community service programs and volunteering activities, and to connect individuals who are willing to create a change in their communities with the right community service organization based on their interest and availability.

“We chose to tackle this topic as we have personally faced some difficulties reaching community service organizations and we were hoping to facilitate the volunteering process for other people who want to pay back to their society by creating a platform that brings together organizations of different fields in one place”. Said Salma Zakareya, one of the members of the graduation project.

“Saed Tesaad” was launched on three social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok. The group has also developed an idea of an application, in collaboration with several non-governmental organizations including Share a Smile, Very Nile, Mashrou’ ElSa’ada and other organizations. The application enables it’s users to easily navigate through different volunteering opportunities and filter them according to the categories duration and area. Furthermore, a website for “Saed Tesaad” has also been launched in order to raise awareness about the campaign and reach a wider audience.

The campaign aims to highlight the difference between community service and philanthropy and raise awareness about how community service can contribute to some of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The campaign targets it’s efforts to the development of a sense of cooperation, integration and unity among young adults, and the reinforcement of social networks between communities.
