CAIRO – 8 July 2017: Dubai will begin using pink emergency response vehicles that cater to women and children under the age of 12, as announced on Saturday by the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS).

The first of its kind in Dubai, DCAS executive director Khalifa Bin Darai commented, “The use of emergency vehicles only for women and children is among twenty-four specialized services offered by the corporation.”

Stationed at the Al-Tawar municipality center, the specialized ambulances will operate 12 hours a day from 11:00 am until 11:00 pm. This service is primarily geared towards women going into labor.

The paramedics and drivers of the pink ambulance will all be women and trained to deal with emergency situations, according to Bin Darai in a statement to the UAE National.

The executive director added, “The female paramedics have completed several training courses and are able to provide the appropriate treatment in very short time.”
