CAIRO – 9 June 2021: Ministry of Tourism has closed 25 hotels and 17 tourist restaurants over violating precautionary measures set to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.

This comes within the framework of the ministry’s role to ensure the service quality provided at the hotels and tourist facilities whether they are adhering to the precautionary measures and health safety controls.

Therefore, the ministry dispatched secret committees to inspect the facilities across the country.

These committees monitored violations by 25 hotels in governorates of Cairo, Red Sea and South Sinai, in addition to 17 tourist restaurants in Cairo, which were found not complying with the COVID precautionary measures.

According to the ministry, the facilities and hotels were closed for a week, and will pay a fine of L.E. 4,000 per the decisions announced by the cabinet in this regard.

These secret committees will continue to inspect hotel and tourist establishments to monitor any violations and take necessary legal measures.
