CAIRO - 4 June 2017:- The Alexandria Team for the Rescue of Turtles and Wildlife is organizing a large campaign to combat jellyfish in the Northern Coast with sea turtles, in cooperation with society organizations and under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Issawi, head of the northern region reserves.

“Sea turtles are known to eat the jelly fish, though one of the most dangerous things that may cause their extinction is the plastic wastes. Turtles mistake plastic bags for jellyfish and plastic bags kill them,” May Gawad, the founder of The Alexandria Team for the Rescue of Turtles and Wildlife, told Egypt Today.

In the celebration of “World Environment Day” organized by the Alexandria Team for the rescue of turtles and wildlife in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, June 2-3, 2017, Dr. Mohamed Issawi, head of the reserves of the northern region, presented the schedule of monitoring the jellyfish in the northern coast and Alexandria and how the sea turtles can be used to combat the jellyfish.

The team mentioned on their official Facebook page that the plan is currently in preparation and will be announced soon.
