CAIRO – 3 July 2017: A night of Sudanese folk music and African percussions by Sudanese vocal and percussionist Asia Madani at Room Art and Space in Cairo on Friday.

Madani, a Sudanese vocalist and percussionist, currently resides in Cairo. Surrounded by music her whole life, Asia was raised by a father that played the oud and has a brother that is a professional percussionist.

Asia is part of the Nile Project, which brings communities living along the Nile River together to help find communal solutions to their needs through music and cross-cultural dialogues.

Coming to Cairo after her 10 performance tour in the United States, Asia has also performed at many international festivals, according to Nile Project website.


Operating as an art space, dance studio, café and multi-purpose space, Room offers professionals, aspiring arts and art lovers a place to perform, collaborate, work and share ideas over freshly brewed coffee.

The Sudanese inspired music event begins at 9 p.m. on Friday.
