‘Literantuhaus at Nadi’ event to occur in Dubai all summer

CAIRO - 3 July 2017: Literatuhaus at Nadi summer culture program kicks off at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai and will run from July 1 to September 30.

The program will feature a performance by slam poet Afra Atiq and aims to bring back the atmosphere of the 19th century salon that involves discussing topics such as literary, artistic, and culture initiatives.

Several international and local authors, poets, critics, curators, translators, publishers, and musicians will all gather at the event every Saturday and September 13 and 28, to share ideas and performances. The program will also tackle aspects of contemporary culture, according to a released statement.

The free-entry program will include segments such as The Bride of Amman a reading and performance by Fadi Zaghmout and Hani Yakan, creative writing workshop by Mariam Al-Saedi, poetry slam and music performance by Farah Chammah and percussionist Myriam Nehmeh and Maruan Betawi Oud and guitar player, among other performances.

The program will also feature seminars including My Life on the Coffee Table by Andrew Hansen, The Magic of Turquoise by Mai Khaled, The Ecology of the Soul by Aidan Walker and Naked Dilomacy by Tom Fletcher among others.

Established in 2007, Alserkal Avenue has been considered an art and culture hub and a platform for rising artistic initiatives. The venue also displays contemporary art galleries and provides design, media and industrial studios. Alserkal Avenue named itself as an arts organization with the Launch of Alserkal Avenue Programming in 2015 that works with regional, local, and international artists.
