CAIRO – 31 January 2021: The French Institute is organizing a meeting entitled "Reviving Our Heritage” on January 31  at 6 p.m., with Alaa el-Habashi speaking at the meeting.

 

The symposium reviews a heritage presentation, where a community in El-Darb El-Ahmar was enthusiastic, while working on and closely watching the experience of restoring Bayt Yakan, to rediscover the essence and values ​​of their heritage.

 

The presentation summarizes the achievements of our time, and presents hopes and visions for the future of the Greek Quarter and Historic Cairo.

 

Alaa el-Habashi is a Professor of Architecture and Heritage Preservation, and Head of the Department of Architecture at Menoufia University. He holds a master's and doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, and has many publications, all of which aim to find mechanisms for preserving heritage that respect local values.
