Egypt adds tourism services to Islamic, Coptic archaeological sites

In line with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities policy to add or improve tourism services in Islamic and Coptic archaeological sites and include them on the list of touristic attractions in Egypt, Eng. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, and Dr. Osama Talaat, Head of the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish Antiquities Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, visited a number of archaeological sites. 
 
 The visit included Sultan Hassan and El Refae mosques; Sultan Hassan Mosque is considered the pinnacle of Islamic architecture due to its architectural manifestations of Islamic civilization, it included a mosque, a school and a Maristan.  El-Refae Mosque with tombs of members of the family of Muhammad Ali and the mausoleum of Muhammad Reza Pahlavi Shah of Iran.
 
 This is in addition to visiting the antiquities of Bab El Wazir Street, as it contains monuments dating back to the Mamluk and Ottoman eras.  Such as the Prince Khair Bey complex that contains a mosque, a sabil, a quran reciting place, a small mosque, and the dome of al-Baz.
 
 They also visited the Blue Mosque, which includes a number of ancient shrines, and visited the Razzaz House, whose importance lies in identifying the nature and shape of ancient Islamic homes.  The tour was concluded with a visit to the mosque and school of Umm Sultan Shaban.
 
 The possibility of developing the archaeological and historical informative content for all these Islamic regions and access to simplified scientific content according to the type of targeted tourists was discussed, in addition to developing tourism services for the areas surrounding theese archaeological sites.
