CAIRO - 15 January 2021: Al Mesek Publishing House issued recently “ Ghalia”novel written by Ahmed Selim.

“ Ghalia” is the first novel for Selim who is a distinguished journalist in Akhabar el Youm newspaper.

In his first novel Selim wants to introduce to the readers the singularity of Sinai.

Ghalia "is a social novel that most of its events take place in North Sinai, and tells the story of a Bedouin family who live in a small village in the Bir al-Abed area.

The events of the novel tackle the life of this family from the 1940s until 2015.

The novel incidents are narrated by  Ghalia to her grandson named Eid who works as a physician before he suddenly disappears and his brother Yahya - who works as an engineer in a Gulf country - returns back to start searching for his brother Eid.

Selim said that his new novel focuses - in addition to narrating historical events - on the social aspect of this family through customs, traditions, weddings and marriage.

He added that the Sinai community is culturally rich, and despite this fact it has no significance presence in the Egyptian literature.

“ Ghalia” is an attempt to shed light on the Bedouin people who live in this part of the land.
