CAIRO – 29 December 2020: Renowned poet Gamal Bakhit said that the first entity to guarantee property and rights is the Authors Association, which was established in the forties, and that Egypt was one of the first countries to sign the basic agreements on intellectual property rights in the world.

Bakhit added that Egypt is among the pioneers of the world in scientific and technological progress.

He stated that Egypt is the first to build the pyramids and the first to discover the secret of mummification, which the world has not yet reached despite scientific progress and modern technology and the first to study astronomy and unprecedented engineering.

“We must reinforce this by ensuring the protection of intellectual property, as well as the necessity to work as a comprehensive intellectual system to promote the positive values of intellectual property protection for children and adults,” said Bakhit.

He explained that the countries that export medicine, weapons, food and technology are among the most conservative of intellectual property, and on the contrary, there are countries that import medicine, weapons, food and technology that do not preserve these rights. If these non-exporting consuming countries remain in this fashion, they will remain in place without progress.

This came during a seminar entitled "Promoting Positive Values for Protecting Intellectual Property Among Children and Adults", at the Supreme Council of Culture in the secretariat of Hisham Azmy, which was organized by the Council's Committee for the Protection of Intellectual Property.
