CAIRO – 23 December 2020: On December 23, several artistic and cultural events will be held in a number of creative centers.

 

The Egyptian Publishers Association, in cooperation with Sohag University, is organizing the first book fair in Sohag Governorate at  the old headquarters of Sohag University.

 

The book fair’s first edition bears the name “The Godfather”, with the participation of 30 publishers, and will be held from December 23 to January 2, 2021.

 

It is noteworthy that the book fair is available to all readers of Sohag Governorate, and is not limited to university students only. It will open its door at 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

 

The Cinema Culture Center affiliated to the National Cinema Center is holding a screening of the Lebanese film "Tarweeqa in Beirut", directed by Farah Al-Hashem, at 6 p.m.

 

The film stars Badi Abu Shakra, Natasha Shovati, Farah Al-Hashem, Mahmoud Hajij.

 

Moreover, the Cairo Opera House continues its celebrations of Christmas and the New Year, as the Cairo Opera Ballet, accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra, led by Maestro Nair Nagy, will perform the “The Nutcracker” for Russian international author Tchaikovsky directed by the late Abdel Moneim Kamel.

 

The Nutcracker will be performed through 6 concerts at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, on the Grand Theater.

 

Last but not least, the book fair, organized by the Faculty of Arabic Language in Cairo in Al-Azhar University, will continue from December 22 to 31, with discounts of up to 50%, in cooperation with the General Egyptian Book Organization, and with the participation of five other entities including the National Library & Archives, General Authority of Culture Palaces and the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
