CAIRO – 17 December 2020: The British Ambassador to Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams sheds light on his experience in learning the Arabic language during his tenure in a number of Arab countries, in his speech that will be broadcast Friday by Egypt’s Ministry of Culture, on the occasion of the celebration of the World Arabic Language Day, which falls on December 18 of every year.

He said that he loves Arabic because it is the language of Umm Kulthum, the “Planet of the East”.

This speech comes within the activities of an initiative organized by the Ministry of Culture and broadcast on various social media platforms, under the title "The Ambassadors speak in Arabic", within the framework of the cultural relations initiative launched by the Minister of Culture, Inas Abdel Dayem, recently.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Ministry of Culture decided that its celebrations of the World  Arabic Language Day this year include broadcasting messages from foreign ambassadors who do not speak Arabic as a native language, talking about their experience with the Arabic language.

The aim of this activity is to highlight the importance of the Arabic language, not only as a means of communication between its speakers, but considering that its proficiency opens the door to a huge balance of cultural and civilizational heritage.

These words will be broadcast on the accounts of the Supreme Council of Culture and the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector on Facebook on December 17, in addition to a number of other websites.
