CAIRO – 13 December 2020: Egyptian artist Omar Siddiq Mustafa received the digital arts award after winning the international painting competition organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in Delhi entitled "United Against Coronavirus" during May 2020.

 

The Indian Embassy in Cairo stated in a press release Sunday, that the Political Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Cairo handed the award to the winner at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Indian Cultural Center in Cairo, due to the precautionary measures against COVID-19.

 

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations in Delhi launched an international drawing competition entitled "United Against Coronavirus" during the month of May 2020, with the aim of encouraging talented artists around the world to express feelings, ideas and creative visions about the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Nearly 800 works of art from around the world participated in the competition, and 210 works were shortlisted.

 

Egypt was among the top 4 countries that participated in the competition, as Omar Mustafa, a member of the Egyptian Cartoonists Association, won the award.
