CAIRO – 10 December 2020: Egypt’s Council of Ministers issued a decision to form and organize the work of the board of directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fostat.

The decision included the formation of a board of directors headed by the minister concerned with antiquities affairs, and membership of the CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, CEO of the General Egyptian Authority for Tourism Promotion, Chairman of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Organization for Urban Harmony, the minister's advisors of legal, economic, marketing and strategic studies, Deputy General Supervisor of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, in addition to a number of bank heads, State officials, Egyptian university professors, and relevant experts.
The decision stipulated that the term of membership of the Council shall be two years, renewable for similar periods.
The board meets at least once a month and whenever the need arises, at the invitation of its chairman.
According to this decision, the Chairman of the Board of Directors shall chair the session and manage the discussions. The Board of Directors may also invite whomever it deems fit from the Authority’s employees or experts from outside the Authority to attend the Board’s sessions in order to make the statements or clarifications the Board deems to request regarding the presented issues without having a counted vote in the deliberations.
The Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Directors shall issue a decision to form the Artistic Secretariat of the Council from a Chairman and a sufficient number of employees to undertake the preparatory work for the Board’s sessions and prepare the agenda and files of the issues raised.
Khaled el-Enani, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, decided to hold the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization at the museum headquarters next week.
