CAIRO – 23 November 2020: The 52nd edition of the Cairo International Book Fair has been postponed to be held mid 2021 due to the crisis of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, announced the CIBF Supreme Administrative Committee on Monday in a statement.

The decision of postponement was issued during a virtual meeting headed by Minister of Culture Enas Abdel-Dayem, the statement said, noting that the fair would be held on June 30, 2021 until July 15, 2021.

The decision was taken as it will be difficult for the Arab and foreign participants and publishers to travel in winter, the statement continued.

Also, the Ministry of Culture has coordinated with Greece, the guest of honor of this round, to postpone the fair.

In the 51th edition, the total number of the publishing houses reached 900, with 99 agencies, 925 activities. The number of participants in the activities recorded 3502 participants and 38 participating countries.
