CAIRO – 20 October 2020: The management of the International Cairo Days Monodrama Festival announced today, Tuesday, the extension of the date of receiving applications of Egyptian theatrical performances participating in the festival’s fourth session until November 15th.

Osama Raouf, founder and president of the festival, said that extending the period of receiving applications for Egyptian performances comes within the framework of providing the opportunity for the largest number of participants to take part in the event.

Raouf added that the best Egyptian shows will be chosen to participate in the international competition of the festival, which is held under the patronage of Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem and with the support of the ministry's various institutions, including the Cultural Production Sector, the Academy of Arts, the Cultural Development Fund, the External Cultural Relations Sector, the Artistic House of Theater, the Artistic House for Folk Art, the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, the General Egyptian Book Organization and the rest of the ministry's sectors and institutions.

Raouf clarified that the conditions for participation in the festivals have been specified: the show must be purely Egyptian in all its elements, except for its authorship, and that the show submitted for participation must not be produced for more than two years, and that the duration of the show does not exceed half an hour. The festival also welcomes open space performances.

It is noteworthy that the previous third edition of the festival was held last February and witnessed the participation of more than 15 countries. Russia was the guest of honor for the festival’s third edition.
