Bayt Al-Sinnari to hold fabric-making workshop for youth wishing to start small business

CAIRO – 8 October 2020: Bayt Al-Sinnari {Al-Sinnari House}, affiliated to the Cultural Communication Sector of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is organizing a workshop for young people under the title "The Fabric of Kilim Loom" during October at its headquarters in Sayyida Zeinab, Cairo.

The workshop focuses on introducing loom lines, which are the basic threads from which the fabric is made, as well as introducing its various types.

During the workshop, a piece will be designed to explain how to use the loom, work on weaving, and overcome problems and obstacles that may appear during the work stages. Attendees will also be trained on ways to produce bags, accessories, clothes and decorations.

The workshop aims to teach the participants a hobby and a craft, especially those who possess a small amount of money and wish to start a small project. It also targets protecting the handicrafts and heritage of Egypt, while adding modern touches to it.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina had prepared Al-Sinnari House to be a beacon for science, culture and arts, and to serve the people of Cairo with the multiplicity of their groups, in light of the library's goals to spread culture and awareness among Egyptians.

The house offers its activities for children, youth and adults, in addition to many monthly concerts, educational seminars, art exhibitions, international conferences, and courses led by a group of specialists in several fields, such as university professors, leading artists, journalists, and professionals.
