CAIRO – 6 October 2020: The Egyptian Ambassador to Berlin, Khaled Galal Abdel Hamid, visited the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which is one of the largest industrial and economic centers in Germany and Europe.

The visit program included talks with the Prime Minister of the state Armin Lachit, in addition to meetings with members of the Egyptian-German Friendship Association, senior officials of the German Foundation for Investment and Development and a group of major German companies in the state.

Abdel Hamid said that the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia handed over four artifacts to him, which was seized by the State Police in the possession of an antiquities dealer in 2016.

He praised the existing cooperation with Germany in the field of recovering smuggled Egyptian antiquities.

This comes within the framework of the relentless efforts of the Egyptian state and the role that the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Tourism and Antiquities play in the field of recovering smuggled Egyptian antiquities.

He added that the prime minister of the state expressed his great happiness to return the antiquities, which is an integral part of the Egyptian cultural history.

The German media has been keen to highlight the return of these artifacts to Egypt.
