CAIRO - 4 October 2020: Celebrating his National Hispanic Heritage month, US Embassy Cairo official Facebook page hosted online interview with award-winning Dominican-American writer Julia Alvarez on October 4.
 
Alvarez was interviewed by famed Egyptian book tuber, Nada Elshabrawy in observance of Hispanic Heritage Month.
 
Alvarez discussed her writing and how she has raised awareness of the Latinx communities in the United States.
 
Her wonderful book, "How the Garcia Girls Lost their Accent," sheds light on the experience of immigrants and women, and was published in Arabic by Al Kotob Khan in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy.
 
Facebook users were allowed to post their questions in the chat.
