CAIRO – 25 August 2020: In the evening of Aug. 24, 2020, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism & Antiquities Khaled el-Anani, and Zurab Pololikashvili, secretary-general of the World Tourism Organization, held an expanded meeting with Ahmed el-Wasif, president of the Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Tourism, heads of the five tourism chambers, and some associations of tourism investors, in order to discuss a number of issues that will contribute to pushing more tourism movement inbound to Egypt and its tourism promotion.

 

The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization affirmed that the organization is fully prepared for continuous support to Egypt to return the rates of inbound tourist movement to its previous state before the Corona virus epidemic.

 

He expressed his enjoyment and happiness with his visit to Egypt, especially in light of the seriousness of the precautionary measures applied in hotels, which he witnessed first-hand during this visit.

 

He also expressed his desire to visit Egypt soon, to spend his vacation with his family on the beaches of the picturesque city of Hurghada.

 

After the meeting, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities organized a dinner at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir in honor of the visit of the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization and his accompanying delegation.

 

It was attended by the Minister of Civil Aviation Mohammad Manar, Minister of State for Information Osama Heikal and a number of ambassadors of various Arab and foreign countries.

 

During the ceremony,  Egypt's Minister of Tourism & Antiquities Khaled el-Anani, the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization and the ministers toured the museum, during which they visited the museum’s various halls, including the King Tutankhamun Hall.

 

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities presented a memorial gift to the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili during the vist to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.

 

It is worth noting that the visit of the current Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization to Egypt came at an official invitation from Khaled el-Anani, which is his first visit outside Europe after the Corona virus pandemic and the resumption of travel and aviation in Spain.
