CAIRO – 21 June 2020: The 10th edition of Malmö Arab Film Festival will kick off on its normal annual date on October 8 -13 in Sweden.

"Certainly, and as always, we are following the health and political authorities’ instructions and guidelines to ensure that MAFF’s participants, guests, public visitors, and employees are staying safe.

On the other hand, we are studying alternatives that allow holding the festival on the scheduled timing, such as holding an online festival.

We hope you are staying healthy and safe," The festival stated on its official website.MAFF is one of the largest film festivals tailor made to shed light on the Arab cinema in the Scandinavian region.

In 2019, Egyptian film "Leil Khargi" won the Best Feature Film Award.

This fiction film is directed by Ahmad Abdalla el-Sayed. The film tells the story of Moe, Toutou, and Mostafa, three individuals who meet in an extraordinary night, breaking the social norms and boundaries, and leading a journey they didn‘t expect inside their city, where they see a side of it they never witnessed before.

"Leil Khargi" is a joint Egyptian-Emirati production starring Basma, Karim Qassem, Mona Hala, Amr Abed and Magdy Ahmed Ali.

In 2018, Egypt was MAFF guest of honour and Egyptian film "Photocopy", directed by Tamer Ashry, received the City of Malmö's Audience Award.
