CAIRO, June 18 (MENA) - Minister of Tourism Khaled el-Anani said that tourism ministers all over the world should work together to protect the tourism industry to maintain its contribution to national economies and provide job opportunities for millions of people.

This came during Anani's participation in an emergency meeting of the Arab council of tourism ministers under Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmad bin Aqil al Khatib via video conference.

The meeting aims at discussing challenges facing the tourism sector because of the coronavirus epidemic.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Tourism said that Anani thanked Khatib for urging this meeting in light of the current circumstances because of coronavirus.

The meeting discussed the repercussions of the epidemic on the tourism sector and points of view were exchanged to overcome the current crisis and resume international tourism movement.

Anani shed light on the measures taken by the Egyptian government to guarantee the safety of tourists and workers in the sector of tourism.

He asserted the keenness of the Egyptian government on regional and international interaction and continuous coordination with the international organizations concerned with tourism.
