CAIRO - 3 June 2020: Head of the Acting Syndicate Ashraf Zaki warned that artists, who offend their colleagues, whether on social media or any other media outlet, will have their syndicate membership revoked immediately and without investigation.

In a press statement, Zaki said that the syndicate has always strongly defended its members and supported their stances, so artists should not get carried away by stirring up discord and attacking their colleagues.

Previously, Zaki had revealed the reasons for the absence of artists at the funeral of the late veteran actor Hassan Hosni, explaining that the late actor is a professor and a fatherly figure of all acting generations. “We are not in a position of justification or defense, and there was a tribute made to him,” said Zaki.

He made it clear during press statements that the death of the veteran actor Hassan Hosni occurred shortly before dawn and burial usually occurs before noon prayer.

Zaki also revealed that Hosni’s family decided that the burial should be done quickly due to the current circumstances and it was about 10 a.m.

“The time-span between dawn and 10 a.m. was not enough,” commented Zaki, affirming that no one has the right to dictate (actors) how to feel towards Hosni and his demise.
