CAIRO - 1 June 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem launched a series of Youth Cinema Club shows that includes creative graduation projects of students of the High Institute of Cinema at the Academy of Arts.

The shows come within the e-initiative “Stay At Home. Culture is Between Your Hands” and will be broadcast on the ministry’s official YouTube channel. The shows start June 1 at 9 p.m with the short feature film “Farda Shemal” directed by Sarah Raziq.

Abdel Dayem said that the Youth Cinema Club's screenings come to encourage young creators to present distinguished works that help restore the glories of the Egyptian silver screen, noting that a selection of films, documentaries, short narratives, and cartoons will screen.

Moreover, Abdel Dayem affirmed the continuation of the efforts to enrich the e-initiative to attract the various social segments to the artistic and intellectual content presented by the Ministry of Culture.

It is worth mentioning that “Farda Shemal” won the jury award at the second edition of the Luxor Festival for Egyptian and European Cinema.

The movie tells the story of two children at the train station, one of whom is poor and the other rich. One of the rich kid’s shoes fell while he was getting on the train, so the poor kid makes a great effort to return it, but fails. The rich kid then decides to throw his other shoe to the poor kid, as a logical solution to benefit from the pair.

The movie is preceded at 6 p.m. by the puppet theater show "The Journey of the Beautiful Era", produced by the Cairo Puppet Theater.

"The Journey of the Beautiful Era" is a fantasy show characterized by excitement and suspense. Its events revolve around the two children Marzouq and Merzouqa who traveled to the past to reach the era of King Akhenaten and the dawn of monotheism, setting out on a journey to explore that era and shed light on this stage in the history of Egypt and the Pharaonic civilization.

At 8:30 p.m., a new episode of the workshop “Start Your Dream” will be broadcast, which comes within the plan of the Ministry of Culture for distance training.
