CAIRO - 12 April 2020: Yes, its a difficult time for everyone and yes there is a sense of uncertainty but unlike other disasters and catastrophes there is so much available for us to do and all from the comfort of our home.

If you are not sure how this can be achieved or not sure how to find things to do, well make sure you keep following Egypt Today as we will be launching a series of articles that will provide you with a list of various sites that enables you to enjoy everything that you usually experience outside. We will be focusing on what Europe have made available for people to view and enjoy across the globe and our first article will focus on theatre, opera and musicals.

For decades the theatre has always been associated with a certain class of people and for many who live in the Middle East seeing a play or musical in New York famous Broadway or London's theatre land is a dream not many can afford to achieve. But thanks to Covid-19; yes, there is a positive aspect to this virus, everyone can now live the experience of watching a play or musical from the heart of Europe and the.

This Easter Sunday (12th April) Andrea Bocelli will give a live performance from Milan to people all over the world via youtube. Andrea Bocelli’s concert—titled “Music For Hope” will see him alone at the cathedral but watched by millions across the globe which aims to promote a message of “love, healing, and hope to Italy and the world”. The Easter concert will range from solo voice pieces and organ combinations. Many holy pieces, such as Ave Maria Setting by Bach/Gounod, will also be included and will start at 6pm GMT which is 8pm Egypt local time.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Musicals
Andrew Lloyd Webber will be streaming his musicals for free online,entitled "The Shows Must Go On", the first musical that was aired last Friday was the 2000 adaptation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat starring Donny Osmond, Maria Friedman, Richard Attenborough and Joan Collins. Each show will air every Friday at 6pm GMT (8pm Egypt time) and will be available for 48 hours on "The Shows Must Go On" Youtube channel. On Friday the 10th of April the channel will show the 2012 production of Jesus Christ Superstar, with Tim Minchin, Melanie C and Chris Moyles.

Pride and Prejudice The Musical
Jane Austen's classic novel Pride and Prejudice has been turned into a musical and will be streamed on WhatsOnStage facebook page this Saturday 11th April in the afternoon.

London's National Theatre
The National Theatre in London, has the greatest archive of cinema-quality recordings of stage plays of any theatre across the world, and from April 2nd , under the banner National Theatre at Home, on their Youtube channel every Thursday (6pm GMT/8pm Egypt time) will see a new National Theatre play released – free to watch for one week – along with bonus content including cast and creative Q&As and post-stream talks.

April 9 ‘Jane Eyre’, adapted by Sally Cookson.
April 16 ‘Treasure Island’, adapted by Bryony Lavery.
April 23‘Twelfth Night’ by William Shakespeare, starring Tamsin Greig.

The Royal Opera House
The Royal Opera House will be offering a free programme of curated online broadcasts, musical masterclasses and cultural insights and offer everyone a unique look behind the scenes at one of the world's most famous cultural institutions. The schedule of free broadcasts and live content that audiences can be accessed for free anywhere, anytime across the globe, bringing both ballet and opera to every home and every device. This will include the following productions offered on demand and for free via the Royal Opera House Youtube channel and Facebook page.

Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow
Russia's Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow will be streaming The Nutcracker (April 10). The performances will begin screening at 4pm GMT (6pm Egypt time) and will remain on the Bolshoi Youtube channel for 24 hours — be aware that its all in Russian.

Paris Opera House
Paris Opera House will be offering to the public its most beautiful ballets and operas to stream from its website for free. The complete program:
April 13 – 19: Tribute to Jerome Robbins (2018)
April 20 – 26: The Tales of Hoffmann (2016)
April 27 - May 3: Carmen (2017)
March 17 - May 3: Cycle of Tchaikovsky's six symphonies played by the Orchestra of the Paris National Opera, conducted by Philippe Jordan

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
Shakespeare's Globe will release 40 productions on its Globe Player service for free and Youtube channel, it has been announced.
The shows are Hamlet starring artistic director Michelle Terry (2018), Romeo and Juliet with Ellie Kendrick and Adetomiwa Edun (2009), A Midsummer Night's Dream with Michelle Terry (2013), The Winter's Tale with Annette Badland (2018), The Two Noble Kinsmenwith Brian Dick (2018) and The Merry Wives of Windsor (2019) with Bryony Hannah.
