CAIRO - 22 June 2017: Thursday marks the 68th birthday of Hollywood acting legend Meryl Streep. In honor of this special occasion, here are 10 things about her that every Streep fan should know.

1- In 2017 she broke her own record for most Oscar nominations for a single actor/actress by being nominated for the 20th time.


2- The acting veteran holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts she received from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut in 1975.


3- She studied acting in New York City with Michael Howard.


4- Her husband, Don Gummer, is a sculptor.


5- Streep donated a wardrobe of hers from “The Devil Wears Prada” (2006) to a charity auction.


6- Streep also donated her entire salary for “The Iron Lady” (2011) to the Women's History Museum.


7- She is a spokesperson for the Center for Reproductive Rights' Draw the Line campaign, a global legal advocacy organization that aims to advance women's reproductive health, self-determination and dignity as basic human rights.


8- She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), a professional honorary organization that seeks to advance the arts and sciences of motion pictures.


9- Streep was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama in November 2014.


10- She joined the presidential campaign for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 elections.
